Creative Projects: A Pathway to Better Photography

I’ve been lucky enough to turn my love for photography into my job. That’s something that I’m very thankful for! Running a business is BUSY though, and like all jobs, it can sometimes feel like a rat race. Occasionally, I worry that I may lose focus and forget why I got into photography in the first place.

That’s why I feel creative projects are so important. I love shooting for clients but, I know, I will always need to shoot passion projects as well. I need to exercise my creative freedom and I need to know that they are for me.

The creative process reignites my fire and keeps the cinders burning inside. I feel my skills expanding as I work. It’s in these moments when you feel uncomfortable and when you are out of your comfort zone, that true art is born. I’m a happier person and better photographer because of creative projects.

Here’s a peek into my last project, inspired by the Winnie the Pooh books by A. Milne and the recent Christopher Robin Movie.

This series is all about the many wonders of childhood, believing in magic and the love of one’s childhood toys.

My intention is to create a mini series photographing all of the vintage characters released this month by the Disney Store.
